A note from Polina

Thank you for listening in and taking an interest in the It Mom podcast.

I’m a mother of two, an entrepreneur, and a creator.
Having lived, studied, and worked in seven countries across fourcontinents, I’ve experienced life through many lenses, but nothing prepared me for the biggest adventure of all: motherhood.

One of the hardest transitions I faced as a mom was navigating the space between who I was and who I was becoming. When I had my daughter, I felt… lost. I was still me, but not quite. I wanted to bounce back into my normal routine, but nothing felt normal anymore. Everything had shifted.

I remember being so unkind to myself in those early days. I was desperate to “get back” to who I used to be – rushing my body before it had healed, pushing down emotions that needed to be felt. I tried too hard. I wanted to be a super mom, a cool mom, me again.

But I couldn’t, not in the same way. That loss of control over my life and identity was overwhelming.

It took me a full year to find my center again. And I learned (the hard way) that I would never be exactly the same, and that’s okay. I can still be me: social, active, healthy, stylish, adventurous.

The old me didn’t disappear. She evolved.

Version 2.0, and I’m still getting to know her.

With my second baby, I did it differently, with more grace, more patience. I gave myself space to heal, to grieve the parts of me that were changing, and to welcome in the new.

Despite the early years of motherhood being some of the loneliest and most isolating times in my life, I know now: I’m not alone. And neither are you.
